A fan petition · Rice-Eccles Stadium · Salt Lake City
Let the fans choose what's poured at Rice-Eccles.
The drinks at Rice-Eccles Stadium are set by a multi-year contract with a single beverage company. When it comes up for renewal, we want it opened to competitive bid, with fan preference counted.
The petition
To the University of Utah Director of Athletics, the Board of Trustees, and the offices responsible for the Rice-Eccles Stadium beverage agreement:
When the current beverage agreement covering Rice-Eccles Stadium expires, open the next agreement to a full competitive bid, and formally weigh fan preference, including the results of this petition, in the decision.
We are the fans, students, alumni, season ticket holders, and donors who fill these seats. We are asking for a say in what's served there.
Why a petition, and why now
- 1
It's a contract
Stadium drinks come from an exclusive “pouring rights” deal between the University and one beverage company, usually 5 to 10 years long.
- 2
Renewal is the opening
The deal comes up for renewal on a schedule. That's when the University decides who bids, and when fan voices can change the outcome.
- 3
Verified names count
Every signature is confirmed by email and counted once. Season ticket holders, students, alumni, and donors are tallied separately.

Questions
Is this petition legally binding?
No. No petition can force the University to change a signed contract. What this does is put a verified, countable record of fan preference in front of the people who award the next beverage agreement, at the moment it matters.
Who receives the petition?
University of Utah athletics leadership, the Board of Trustees, and the offices that manage the stadium beverage agreement. Local media will get the totals too.
Why do I have to confirm my email?
So every signature is a real person, counted once. The confirmation link also works as your sign-in. There's no password to remember.
